Lifestyle | The Holscher Sisters

I have had some great fun photographing families during the Christmas break! This photo session was a chance for all of the Holscher sisters to have some fun while making some memories as a suprise for their mother on Christmas eve...These girls did a wonderful job sneaking around planning a special Christmas eve dinner and we created a slide show of images from their session that was to be played for her as an added bonus! You can view it HERE! I was so excited to be a part of their project~

The next two photos were originally inspired by the infamous Beatles photo...

but when I showed my sister the slide show she told me that the Dixie Chicks had a very similar photograph for one of their albums...how ironic?! That definately wasn't planned, but pretty cool that the song that they choose for the slide show was "Landslide" by the Dixie Chicks!

I had such a blast with these girls! Although the weather was pretty rough..Super cold and WINDY, I really feel like we got some wonderful photographs of them and created some great memories for them to have forever...

Well, needless to say, with the weather not on our side we decide to head for warmth and a little comfort in the form of caffiene! Coffee Grounds is a coffee shop located in downtown Terre Haute and provided us with exactly what we were looking for...hot coffee!! The shop also provided a vivid background for some candid sister moments...I love the color in contrast to our very "wintery" moments in the previous photographs...It really makes it seem like we had a jolt of caffiene to warm ourselves up~

I'm really looking forward to working with these girls in the future...I have the honor of photographing Megan's wedding in October of 2008 and I just know it will be a blast...I already feel like I'm becoming part of the family. You can view Megan and Mark's engagement slide show HERE and a previous post about their future wedding HERE...

Thanks so much girls...I wish you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Lifestyle | Ashley & Andrew

Here are some shots from a family photo shoot that I did for Ashley and Andrew Thomas...Ashley and I were both worried that because they are so close in age that it would come off as a couple rather than brother and sister, so we kept the mood fun...and quick because it was FREEZING outside! Their intention for the photo shoot was a Christmas gift for their mother...I think mom would be proud!

Brother & Sister

Like I said earlier, our session was shorter than normal...just enought time to get some nice head shots and a few of them together, so I'm only posting a few of my favorite images...I just wanted everyone to see how HOT they both are!! Beautiful smiles too!!

Do you guys remember the movie "Sixteen Candles"?
...Doesn't Andrew look just like Jake Ryan?!

Engagement | Megan & Mark

Megan & Mark
I met Megan & Mark months ago when they were "shopping" around for a wedding photographer! I invited them over to my studio and we talked about what they were looking for to make their wedding day perfect. I got to hear a great story of how they met and all about their love story...It was great meeting them! Since then we have shot their engagement photos and they have been SOOO much fun to work with! We shot some great images that really capture them as a couple...how they cuddle, how they smile at each other and how they tease each other too!

Megan & Mark

We headed off to McCormick's Creek in Spencer Indiana to get some great fall/Midwest scenery...It was the perfect day for what we wanted and I think that they photos really bring out who they are at heart....Megan mentioned a few times that she was a "country girl" at the core! How perfect ~

Megan & Mark
I can't get over how great their smiles are!!

Some of the shots have been used on their wedding website. A lot of couples have been using this as a method to keep track of wedding details and guest lists. It is a wonderful way to keep everyone informed on the events and happenings leading up to the big day! Take a look at their website here...meganandmark.com/

I saved my favorite for last!!

You can view a slide show of their "best of" images at theroxystudio.com/meganAndMark

It is set to the tune of "I got you babe" by Sonny & Cher, which is in the running for the song for their first dance....How fun!

Oh and you will probably wonder why we shot some photos with a lawn mower....well, just ask! It's a great story~

Engagement | Jolene & Rob

I met Joelene & Rob a few years ago when they contacted me to shoot their wedding! Like some weddings do, the date changed a few times and it ended up that I couldn't shoot the actual wedding because of scheduling conflicts...Well, it ended out working out quite nicely because their wedding was held in Florida (nicely for them...I was the one who had to stay here in Indiana!) But I did get to shoot their reception upon their return!

As you can see, these photos here are not of a wedding or a reception...I gave the couple a complimentary engagement (well, they are married now, but what else do you call it!?) shoot to replace the shots that we would have taken at the ceremony...We decided to head to Mansfield Indiana, where, if ANY of you are from Indiana, you know about the good old Covered Bridge Festival that is held there every October! So we definitely had to take advantage of the surroundings while we were in the area~

You can blame the "vandalism" of the above photo on me...I asked them to carve their initials into the post! But I love how it came out...One of my favorites from our shoot together!

And we had to get this shot because Rob works for Pepsi....

Check out all of their images here!

Sprout Session | Jessie (Maternity)

Well soon Jessie will be able to reach her poor toenails! Harper Grace is due in December and I can't wait to meet her!

My gift to Jessie was a maternity photo shoot! I was so happy to get her in my studio to do these shots! I wanted to freeze this time in her life and preserve it so her baby girl can look back at how beautiful and glowing her mother was in the last few weeks of her pregnancy!

You can see more of Jessie's photos here...I wish I would have looked as great as Jessie when I was pregnant!

Senior Portraits | Samantha

Samantha Smith and I got together and took some wonderfully fun Senior Portraits! She was a blast - up for all of my funky ideas....

She is a very natural and geniunely sweet person and I think we really got her personality to shine in the photos that we took!

Instead of posting any preview photos on this blog, I have decided to give everyone a preview of my newest feature - The Roxy Studio Slide Show! I will be offering this as a complimentary feature that I feel will set me apart from the other photographers in this area! Portrait sessions will include all photographs and weddings will include all of the "highlight" moments from their day...Slide Shows will be available online (you can purchase a copy on DVD) and you can direct your friends and family to your special web address so that they can enjoy your photos too!
Take a look and let me know what you think of the new feature!

Lifestyle | Wernz Family

This Smith Family is actually a small section (or pod...the word we used when setting up for our large group shots!) of the Wernz family. I know various members of these families through my journey as a photographer (Greg -black shirt, far left of the first photo - and I used to work together at Galloway's a local photography store and print lab...I think he could be a double for Harrison Ford~Indiana Jones style~!) and the Smith "pod" frequented the coffee shop I worked for as well! So...I have known different members of the larger group for quite a while! I love getting to see old friends:)

This family had a special request for me to do some shots similar to some on my website with a picture frame. We had tons of fun with these shots...There were a few that I was dying to post, but I had to tell myself that they wouldn't be appropriate to post online for all of the world wide web to view!! Haha...you can only use your imagination with this group ~ crazy crazy!!

Here are a few more shots of the "Smith" pod:)

Lifestyle | Smith Family

Let me just begin by saying...I have been crazy busy taking photos~ And I LOVE it!!

Last weekend I had 4 "Smith" photoshoots...(What's a "Smith" photoshoot you ask?) Well, let me explain:

On Saturday I had booked a family session with Smith family #1

This was a fun set that we shot out at St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, IN. I'll have to say, St. Mary's has one of the most beautiful campuses I've seen...It's very calm and inviting and absolutely gorgeous this time of year.

We had some fun exploring to find out what we could utilize as a family photo setting...and we came up with some really fun shots!

Maycie was a little shy at first, but big brother Tristan was what she needed to bring her out of her shell... and once she started moving we couldn't keep up!

We just couldn't resist getting these shots of the "cool older brother" & "little sis"!

And a little bit of alone time for mom and dad to end our little adventure!
