Terre Haute Living!

I submitted an ad for the new edition of Terre Haute Living...

terre haute living ad

As you can see, I mention Levi in the ad! He has really been working behind the scenes since the beginning, I just never gave him any credit until now...how awful is that?!

Levi is such a talented guy! He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Industrial Design and has used his education and continued furthering his knowledge in interface and web design...He has done many jobs for Sony working on DVD, Blu-Ray and PSP menus (probably for many movies you have watched and love!) and has made custom web sites for various artists (including yours truly!)...Levi is a wonderful photographer and such a laid back and easy going guys...I'm so excited to have him play a more prominent role in The Roxy Studio~

We have recently set some new goals for our personal life and the direction that we want our business to be moving in...I'm excited for the changes that are to come in the near future and to tell everyone all about the ways that you can enjoy what we will now be offering...

1. Incorporating a second (full-time) photographer and editor/designer will allow us to meet the demand for our services and we will be able to offer an even faster turn-around time so you can quickly view and order your favorites from your session!

2. We will be offering on-site Wedding day Slide Shows to be played at the reception...This is a wonderful way to share the behind the scene moments that your guests may have missed during the ceremony and preparation of the day's events...

3. We are working on a brand new website design, with an even easier to navigate design!

There are many other ways that working together on a different level will affect your personalized photography session...but most will happen behind the curtain...

It truly is a dream come true that I have the freedom to do what I love and make a living...I'm so happy that I get to share this part of my life with my family and to share it with all of you~

The Roxy Girls | Eunice

What can I say? Eunice was such a great Pin-Up Girl! She has personality and you can definitely see it in these images! I'll keep the text short and sweet so you can enjoy my favorite images from our set!

Sailor inspired...

Classic classy lady...

Eunice is an entrepreneur and we wanted to incorporate that in her images...She has goals of becoming a match-maker in the Indianapolis area and really enjoys the business aspect of life!

And we had to get this shot! I was dog-sitting that weekend...Poor Misty had no idea what she was in for~

Lincoln's First Birthday!

So, we made it through our first year as parents! Can you believe it? haha...and we LOVED every minute of it!

So many friends and family showed up to celebrate with us...Including my grandmother, Lincoln's GREAT grandmother~

He was acting a bit shy at first...and just needed a little persuading...and food always works for him...

Especially CAKE! So, Levi stripped him down so there was less mess to deal with after the fun~

waiting...

We had a special 3-D ball cake made for him...he LOVES playing with them, and we thought it would be fun to see what he would do with one made of cake...He wasn't sure about it at first...

We had time for a quick "kitchen-sink" bath while everyone was enjoying their own piece of cake!

Our friends and family were so thoughtful and really got some great gifts for Lincoln that he will enjoy for a very long time...

This photo cracks me up! We ended up using the "mustache" photo for the birthday invites...and Craig and Lori added a little bit of fun with them on their gift bag!!

Those are bubbles, and thank goodness the cap it still securely attached! Too funny~

And Lincoln did finally come out of his shell and showed off his dancing skills....he is really good at The Robot!

Girls, Girls, Girls...

I had a Pin-Up MARATHON shoot today! I was so fun (and a bit exhausting...) and I can't wait to share some of the images....until then you can enjoy some of my Elvis ornaments that I used for some fun test shots...

AND...a little bit of love from Elvis himself...this is from the end sequence from the movie "Girls, Girls, Girls!"...This is one of my FAVORITE Elvis movies and I thought is was quite appropriate for the occasion!

Enjoy!

The Roxy Girls | Rosiland

She's Got Legs~

She knows how to use them...

Rosiland (pictured) and Tamara (stylist) both work in downtown Indianapolis on Massachusetts Ave. at a salon called Michael's...They are both GORGEOUS ladies and this photo set was mainly for some portfolio shots for the girls...

We shot these images in an apartment (right around the corner from Mass. Ave.) that used to be a factory that made women's hosiery! How perfect is that?! Fun place for some fun photos of legs....haha!

Mass Ave. is such a hip place...I'm so jealous that these girls get to work and live right in the center of it~ This strip is packed with art galleries, shops, restaurants...you name it, and it's here! I shouldn't be too sad though...I only live about an hour away :)

Charlie the dog...had fun too :)

I don't think that he knew what to think!!

And now for the show...

And for something a little softer...

I had so much fun taking these photos...It was nice to working with girls that work in an environment much like mine...they are creating art (by means of hair styling) for others to enjoy, just like I strive to create images of people that others can enjoy! I think that our creative personalities worked really well with each other and thanks so much for asking me to help you build your portfolio~

Lifestyle | Hopkins

Meet Hopkins...

He is a Boston Terrier and is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met! Hopkins is only a few months old and was a bit nervous to be the center of attention during our brief photoshoot...But after a few treats and belly rubs he warmed up to us and we got some great shots!

Cute Sweater~

I love that he has one blue eye and one brown eye...According to his owner this is an unusual occurrence and was one of the biggest reasons that he fell in love with this particular puppy and decided to bring him home!

I couldn't resist posting this last image...There are many times that I click my shutter right when a blink is coming for people...but this is definitely the first time I caught a dog on camera mid-blink! and it's still so cute~

Dogs blink too!

Wedding | Betsy & Travis

Betsy and Travis were my first 2008 wedding and I couldn't have asked for a better wedding to start my year! They were married in mid-February and had a smaller, more intimate wedding...family members and close friends were in attendance and love was in the air!

Some of my favorite images from weddings are from the "getting ready" section...The excitement is always high while everyone is buzzing around making final preparations and putting finishing touches on all of the details of the day...Here are a few favorites from this wedding...

I love false lashes! They add a bit of drama and beauty~
BEFORE:

AFTER:

The bride always needs a little help with the final touches! Those dresses can be hard to maneuver in...but it is so worth it for how beautiful it makes you look and feel!

Now, we didn't forget about Travis...he was at home getting ready for the wedding, but I was able to catch a great candid shot of him and his father while they waited together just before the ceremony!

Some of the greatest and most cherished images captured can be from moments that are spontaneous and candid...I love how there is a mixture of laughter and crying...I can still feel the energy as I look at this image~

Betsy and Travis are a very special couple to me because they remind me so much of how my relationship is with MY husband...it's crazy, but a little reassuring, to see that other couples are like us! Betsy and Travis are SO laid back, and respectful of each other in every way...even in tough times or times of high stress (which can be the case when planning a wedding) they still maintain their cool! I love it and it makes me truly appreciate what I have in my relationship when I get to witness admirable qualities in other couples that I respect!

Another great candid moment!

Here is a familiar wedding tradition...the 'bustle' of the dress! Thank goodness for sisters and bridesmaids!

A bit of alone time before the reception events begin!

And one for fun! This was harder to achieve than you may think~ Just ask the Maid of Honor and Best Man! They were the one's who had to hold still for this one~

Betsy & Travis worked very hard on their first dance! It was the kick off to the reception and it was choreographed to Take on Me by A-Ha! It was the greatest thing I had ever seen...Here is the original music video to get you in the mood! They are so much FUN!

This song was such a great way to get the party started! They quickly followed this by dinner and cake cutting...and here are some priceless images!

Sweet...

Sooo THEM!

And a look of pure HORROR! Great expression Betsy!

After a quick clean up everyone was on the dance floor...singing and dancing it up...

capturing moments on video...

spending time with good friends...

slow dancing...

A good friend of the couple had been working on a very special photography project for them to hang in their home! She had been photographing different items that resembled letters to spell out their last name...BECKNER...if you look closely you can see it too! How creative and meaningful to think of the time energy she spent in creating the images that fit their personalities perfectly! What a great idea~

This last image was a must for me...About 2 years ago Betsy asked me to photograph the two of them together for a birthday present for herself! During our shoot we incorporated some Poloroid film and Betsy had kept them and brought them to the wedding...Even though they were not officially engaged at the time of the original photoshoot, the images are very meaningful and signify a very special time in their relationship! I wanted to capture the two significant times in their life into one image...

I'm so happy to have been asked to photograph this wedding! It was emotional and fun and truly was an example of the way a wedding should be...Congratulations to the newly wed couple! I hope that the future holds as much fun and love as your wedding day contained...if it does you will be set!
